John first discovered he was a leaky condo owner in 1997 and has hands-on experience chairing a Strata Corporation. He also chaired a Remediation Committee
and through a process of inclusiveness, clear communication was established amongst the owners and prevented much of the misinformation and conflict commonly experienced in other
strata’s dealing with major assessments.
As a Co-founder of the Coalition of Leaky Condo Owners (COLCO), John chaired all public meetings and contributed in the development of the ‘Leaky Rotten Condo List’.
In 1998 and 1999, John made submissions to the Barrett Commission hearings.
In 2000 John sat on the City of Coquitlam Building Envelope Task Force. This Task Force, amongst other things, reviewed the role that the City could play in assisting
homeowners, identified the potential extent of the disaster, and looked at the economic impact.
John went to the Legislature in Victoria and presented to the Provincial Task Force of the newly elected Liberals in 2001. More recently, John has lobbied
representatives of the federal government. It is hoped that a judicial inquiry will proceed in the next session of Parliament to investigate the role of CMHC and what they had
known that could have prevented the entire situation.
John has read thousands of pages of minutes and engineering reports. All of John’s own correspondence and documents have now been passed on to facilitate ongoing research.
John has unselfishly helped hundreds of homeowners over the past 10 years, and continues to do so. As a realtor, John is now offering to help you.
