Learn more about John Grasty and his story
As an accredited real estate professional, John has over nineteen years of homeowner advocacy and leadership experience helping buyers and sellers successfully achieve their real estate objectives. Today, he uses this extensive valuable background to mentor his colleague, Jessica Chen-Sargent, as John eases slowly into retirement.
For experienced REALTORS® like John, their profession is about more than selling real estate. It means being an active part of their community:
- John has served on various civic committees for Port Moody and Coquitlam and served two terms as President of the Tri-City Arts Council.
- He is a tireless homeowner advocate who, since 2007, has served on the National Advisory Council for Canadians for Properly Built Homes.
- John is familiar to many throughout Metro Vancouver for his work with the Coalition of Leaky Condominiums Owners (COLCO), which he co-founded, and as a past president of Consumer Advocacy and Support for Homeowners Society.
- John is a sought-after media commentator on matters affecting homeowners and has given numerous television interviews, appears as a guest on radio shows, and represented homeowners on a variety of panels, at stakeholder roundtables, and at government meetings.
John explains, “By staying involved in industry-related matters, I’m more aware of the laws and regulations affecting homeowners and consumer protection. The benefit of this knowledge and expertise means a higher level of customer service and care, and demonstrates a professional commitment that always put your interests first.”
John’s eagerness to point out potential flaws, liabilities, and risks to his clients, combined with his commitment to advance better protection for homeowners, has become widely recognized. As a result of his contributions, dedication, and peer respect, John was presented with a REALTORS Care® Award in 2010. His motivation is to influence positive changes in industry standards and to promote homeowner protection, including changes to codes and regulations. John says, “Volunteering is a way to stay in touch, bring about positive change, and has been my lifelong pastime and passion.”
Finding another Realtor with a similar approach would not be very easy and finding comparable experience could well be impossible, so luckily for the residents and residents-to-be of the Tri-Cities, John mentors his business partner Jessica and shares this wealth of knowledge with her. John previously acted as Western Canada’s Purchasing Manager for a Canadian Crown Corporation. His ability to execute high-level national agreements speaks volumes of John’s ability to negotiate. Protecting your negotiation position requires competent negotiation skills, which only years of experience can provide and John is sharing these skills and tips with Jessica. That means that Jessica and John represent you and your interests, while ensuring that legal and financial misunderstandings can be prevented. Wouldn’t you feel more confident with a REALTOR® who can negotiate on your behalf when so much is at stake?
Sufficient knowledge of the market and pricing is mandatory. When representing a Seller, John Grasty and his business partner Jessica Chen-Sargent craft for you a marketing strategy that will give your home the best chance of getting sold. “There are just too many homes for sale that expire, and too many excuses for allowing a listing to expire. REALTORS® who have listings that regularly expire reveal a lack of marketing expertise, and cannot possibly be working in the best interest of their clients.”
