Recognizing Gerry Nuttall
We’re very pleased to recognize our friend Gerry Nuttall who is being bestowed with the prestigious Freedom of the City designation by the City of Port Moody this Saturday, June 16, 2018.
John has known Gerry for many years, working together with him on committees and boards including an economic development committee, a Parks and Recreation Commission, the Centennial Steering Committee, and others. Gerry’s civic contributions are endless, as this former city councillor also co-chaired the Evergreen Line Public Art Committee and is one of the founding and active members of The Club for Port Moody seniors.
Gerry deftly embraces any challenge sent his way and he does so with fairness and utmost professionalism as a shining ambassador for the city he loves. He’s been the President of Golden Spike Days and Residents for a Better Port Moody, as well as Treasurer of the BC Association of Police Boards.
One of Gerry’s biggest strengths is his financial prowess, from having been a local businessman owning his Port Moody-based print shop to advocating for the establishment of proper Capital planning and funding for Capital maintenance and renewal of existing assets. His understanding of asset management was truly a benefit for the city of Port Moody, but always acting in the best interest of the City is second nature.
Time and again, Gerry has demonstrated leadership in action and enthusiasm for the city we call home. He is a transparent and open-minded communicator and highly effective listener. He’s had a positive impact on countless lives, often without the public being aware of his extensive involvement in our civic lives. It is wonderful to see that Gerry is being honoured as a significant contributor to life in Port Moody.
Congratulations, Gerry, and well-deserved.
